Susceptibility is the state or fact of being likely or liable to be influenced or harmed by a particular thing. Susceptibility is often involved with conspiracy theories. Why are some people more likely to believe theories compared to others?
The Bob Marley conspiracy theory that was provided to our subjects was not very very descriptive nor was a lot of evidence provided. On the other hand our man-made diseases theory did involve evidence. The lack of evidence has a big effect on whether they believe or not.

MAN-MADE DISEASES
We then explained to the people this next conspiracy theory. The theory being that the CIA created diseases such as AID/HIV. The rumor was (and still maintains) that the deadly virus was created by the CIA to wipeout homosexuals and African Americans. Some believe the virus was made in US military labs. Others believe that the government injected gay men with the virus during the hepatitis B experiments during 1978. Some blame Richard Nixon for combining the US army's biowarfare department with the National Cancer Institution. Those that go with the scientific side of things believe the disease was passed to humans from monkeys.

BOB MARLEY

We took a Bob Marley conspiracy theory, the theory being the one where the CIA supposedly infected Bob Marley with cancer. A retired CIA agent confessed to having tried to assassinate Marley previously by shooting him but didn't succeed. Later he disguised/tried to blend in as a photographer and give a gift to Marley which contained a tack with a cancerous virus and bacteria. Once the tack penetrated the singer he would be done for.
